All my thoughts

All my thoughts
So I've been thinking lately about the people in the area I live in. I live in one of the most well-known piece of crap towns there is; home of Kurt Cobain: Aberdeen.
I'm one of those average Joes that rides the bus, surrounded in an aura of smoke, alcohol, and drugs seeing as the people here are well-known for being dimwitted and drugged out.
The one thing that we're known for that's good is our music. And lately the music scene is falling apart. And yes, I'm one of the many young musicians out there at this day and age, but I'm also one of the few that are willing to try for change. I've been contacting all the musicians in the area, trying to set something up, whether it's as small as everybody getting together at a park and having an acoustic gathering, or it being a meeting to set up fund-raisers so we can help establish a new venue.
First step: how to convince other people to join in.
Second step: where to have this get-together
Third step: what to discuss at the get-together
Fourth step(the hardest one): getting people to follow through.

  1. 1: Be a leader.
2: Depending on how many people you wrangle up, a local school gymnasium, baseball fields, your backyard.
    3. How each band/musician feels about the current musical state of things, and whether they are willing and able to put forth effort to change it.
    4. Follow the first 3 and you'll have enough people thinking that they'll HAVE to do something.

I completely agree that music is starting to lack greatly. I find myself turning off the radio while im driving now simply because nothing appeals to me that's on. CHANGE THIS please :)

  17. Kurt Cobain was just the right guy at the right time. If he didn't make it big with grunge, someone else would have. It was just a matter of time ;)

  27. When i was at Uni, we would hire out the SU and other local clubs (they would usually let us have it free if we got X amount behind the bar) then we promoted the event round uni and printed out tickets at £2, we got all the local bands and djs, and promised to split 70% of all proceeds between them.
